    both involve riding the surface.

both boards need care and waxing.

    both are dangerous – injuries.

They both involve a board. That’s an odd essay.

    because they are

    To the 1st girl:

    WTF??? You don’t wax a wakeboard. F**king Re*ard!

The only real similarity is that the boards face the same way and you almost cut the same way. As a snowboarder I was able to pick up wakeboarding pretty fast. The only problem I had was that being pulled felt a little restricting to me. I think a rippin snowboarder will be able to pick up wakeboarding fast, but not the other way around.

On a wakeboard you are a little more eager to try things. The worst that has happened to me personally is blacking out. Snowboarding I have sprained, ripped and broken many things. Your chance of serious injury is less on a wakeboard then a snowboard.
Although, Dallas Friday (rippin’ female wakeboarder) did break her femur wakeboarding a couple years ago. S**t happens but I think it is less likely to happen on a wakeboard.

the obvious, side stance is the most predominate trait of both sports. once you get your feet in the bindings and are standing on the board, your body position will be common for maneurving the board. you do have different styles depending on rider preference and, possibly, snow conditions. surfer style vs skate board style.

You turn the same way. You use your edges in the same way, and shift your weight in a similar way. You jump in a similar way. You rotate in a similar way. You ride either goofy or regular.

The differences are that you lean back in wakeboarding, while you lean forward in snowboarding (unless in deep powder). You have a rope pulling you in wakeboarding. Landing jumps is different. The boat controls where you go and how fast you go, while in snowboarding you control that. It hurts more to crash snowboarding.

All in all, they aren’t all that different. Good snowboarders generally pick up wakeboarding pretty fast. I haven’t seen wakeboarders pick up snowboarding the same fast. I think because when you are just used to jumping a wake, it is pretty intimidating to go off a 40 foot tabletop. However, it can be difficult for snowboarders to pick up spinning 360′s and up in wakeboarding, because they are not used to having to deal with a rope.

i would say the only similarity is turning and being strapped in
